10km Run Race in HOLLYWOOD!!!
10km Run Race in HOLLYWOOD!!!
Saturday, April 7, 2012
When I found out about a 10km (6.2 mile) run race that would coincide with the Hollywood Half Marathon, I immediately wanted to do it for 2 reasons. First, to try and improve upon the 10km run race that I did in Litchfield Park, AZ, in 38:56 on March 3rd. Second, the idea of running a race in Hollywood seemed very cool. So, this morning I ran my heart out and went 37:52. No, the 7 is NOT a typo! All key variables were the same, with 1 exception. This time, the race was not at the end of a work week since I’m now training full time. Thoughts flood my head about how different it is to train full time, and how I’m no longer training or racing through the sleepy tired feeling. I could write a lot more about the difference, but I don’t want to be late for my swim today!
They played the National Anthem just prior to us starting the race. I thought about military friends who had answered the call of duty and then paid with their life. I stood at attention, holding back emotions, simply feeling a deep passion and gratitude for the opportunity to represent my country through sport.
The real HOLLYWOOD sign!!!!!!!!

At the race venue with Hard Rock Cafe and the Kodak Theatre in the background.

Fellow Team Sirius athlete, Magali Tisseyre, won first, and I came in second! We both had a blast!!

You can’t go to Hollywood without getting at least 1 Star photo! For fun, I chose Woody Woodpecker’s star!
