5.5 weeks ago I swam a 1500 meter time trial, in a 50 meter pool, in 21:14.  Yesterday, I swam a 1500m TT 33 seconds faster, in 20:41.  On 11 Feb 2012, I was eating dinner at Ground Control in Litchfield Park, Arizona, and I wrote specific goals I wanted to accomplish this year, such as “swim a 1500m TT in under 21:00.”  I honestly thought, “I have never come close to swimming a single 500 in under 7 minutes, so this is going to be a tough goal to accomplish this year.  I’m not sure if I can do it, but I’m going to write it down anyways and work towards it.”  25 May 2012...I did it!  Set your mind to achieving a goal, follow through with action, and YOU TOO CAN DO IT!  Interestingly, 3 years ago to this date, I earned my pro card at the Capital of Texas Triathlon, after losing a friend (1st Lt Roslyn Schulte) to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on the 20th of May, 2009--I think of you often and remember you this Memorial Day Weekend.

I certainly don’t update people on my progress as a way to brag about my times.  Quite frankly, this is basically warm up speed for the triathletes going to the 2012 Olympics, which is why my sights are set on 2016!  I update my website, facebook, and twitter mostly as a way to communicate to those who have supported me over the years that I am working hard and making progress.  I am incredibly thankful for support I receive, in varied forms.  Without the help of others, I would be unable to have a shot of representing Team USA in the Olympics.  Serving in the military, and knowing people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, gives me incredible motivation to dream big and work hard towards accomplishing the dream!

Knocking 33 seconds off my 1500m time, in 5.5 weeks, required an increase in swim volume
, a smart coach, and great teammates.  The other trick up my sleeve is using the HALO Swim Trainer and applying what I’ve read from Sheila Taormina’s book which came with the HALO when I bought it.  The creator of the HALO trainer is offering a promotional code (enter TS2 in box at checkout) if you are looking for a way to help bring your swim to the next level, and you like discounts!  It’s a simple, but effective, tool...just the type of tools I like!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  Below are a few pics!

Siriusly awesome Team Sirius teammates!  (I’ll let you play the game of figuring out who is who)

Ocean swims at Venice Beach and Tower 26.  We are the Women in Wetsuits--way cooler than the Men in Black!

In the pool, Siri LOVES to pack us in 1 lane.  I think I count ELEVEN of us in the photo on the left!  LOL!  It gets chaotic at times, but so do swims in a race!

Another group shot taken by our fearless coach, Siri--we have fun!

Siri’s favorite question: Do You Love It?  Of course, but sometimes, if I’m in the middle of an interval and she asks me this, I ignore her because I think she’s just trying to distract me ;-P
